Common Questions

Yes. Site assessments and system recommendations are provided free of charge with no obligation. For commercial projects requiring load calculations, we provide a full engineering proposal including system design and investment band estimate.
We install and service Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, and LG across all system types. Brand selection is driven by the application — LG Multi V for large VRF, Daikin splits for residential. All installed units carry manufacturer warranty.
Single split systems: typically same-day or next-day installation in the Four-O corridor. Ducted systems: 2–5 days depending on ductwork scope. VRF/VRV systems: 2–8 weeks including equipment lead time. Process and cold room systems: 4–12 weeks. All timelines subject to site assessment.
Yes. Same-day response for breakdowns in the Four-O corridor (Outapi, Oshakati, Ondangwa, Ongwediva). Scheduled emergency callout for Windhoek, Walvis Bay, and Tsumeb — typically next business day. Maintenance contract clients receive priority response. Contact us directly for urgent callout availability.
For residential split systems under a certain capacity, approval is generally not required. Commercial installations, ducted systems, and any work affecting a building's structure or electrical supply may require a municipal permit and COC. We advise on regulatory requirements as part of the site assessment and handle application paperwork where required.
For Namibia's climate, standard temperate-climate sizing tables underspecify. See the sizing guide above — start with floor area, then apply a 15–20% upward adjustment for north-central regions. Precise sizing requires a site assessment that factors in ceiling height, glazing area, and occupancy density.
Coastal air carries salt particulates that oxidise copper coils and corrode electrical contacts within 12–24 months on standard units. Marine-grade units use epoxy-coated fins, stainless or galvanised fasteners, and sealed control enclosures. Standard units installed on the Namibian coast without these protections will fail prematurely — coil replacement costs typically exceed original installation price.
R-32 is the current standard for new residential and light commercial equipment — lower GWP (675 vs 2,088 for R-410A), higher energy efficiency, and increasingly available in Namibia. R-410A is still in service on existing installations and legally serviceable. New installations should specify R-32 or R-454B. We carry both refrigerants and can advise on phase-out timelines affecting your equipment.
For VRF/multi-zone commercial: LG Multi V and Mitsubishi Electric City Multi both perform well at high ambient — LG's Multi V5 has documented performance data at 52°C. For residential and small commercial splits: Daikin's heat exchanger quality and after-sales support record in southern Africa are strong arguments. Brand selection should follow the application, not the other way around.
Standard quarterly service: coil clean (evaporator and condenser), filter service or replacement, refrigerant pressure check, electrical connection check, drain flush, and efficiency report. Commercial contracts include a full system health log. Maintenance contracts reduce monthly power consumption by up to 25% and extend equipment lifespan by preventing the ~5% annual efficiency degradation from missed service.
Power draw depends on unit capacity, daily hours, and compressor type. A 5.3 kW (18,000 BTU) midwall split running 10 hours per day typically draws around 480 kWh per month if it is a conventional fixed-speed unit, or around 264 kWh per month if it is an inverter-driven equivalent — a 40–50% difference under comparable load. See Section 2 above for the full consumption comparison. Translate kWh to your bill using your Regional Electricity Distributor's commercial tariff.
