Mechanical Breakdown Response — 24/7

On-site mechanical repair for mines, factories, and processing plants across Namibia. We mobilize for pump failures, valve repairs, coded welding, and full plant recovery.

24/7 Callout

Downtime Costs More Than the Repair

Sourcing emergency help reactively

  • Unknown contractor capability — no verified site safety compliance history
  • Long lead time sourcing a specialist from Windhoek or South Africa
  • Emergency rates 40–80% above scheduled work with no prior scope agreement
  • No guarantee of access approvals for mine or plant safety protocols

Pre-vetted Onvert emergency response

  • CIDB-registered teams with existing site access approvals at major Namibian operations
  • Outapi-based field vans stocked with mechanical spares — 2-hour target response
  • Fixed emergency callout structure — no hidden premiums, scope agreed before work starts
  • Confined space, hot-work permitting, and LOTO compliance built into every scope

Breakdown Scenarios

What Has Stopped Your Plant?

Most mechanical breakdowns fall into four categories. Our field teams carry tooling and common parts for all of them.

Pump Not Starting or Cavitating

No flow, abnormal noise, or excessive heat from pump assembly

Common causes

  • Blocked impellersolids ingested during a flood or surge event
  • Failed mechanical sealfluid leaking at the shaft
  • Motor-pump misalignmentvibration and bearing heat buildup

Assessed on site — most seals and impellers resolved same day

Conveyor Belt Failure

Belt stopped, slipping, or tracking off-centre under load

Common causes

  • Splice failurejoint separated under tension
  • Drive drum sliplagging worn or contaminated
  • Idler bearing seizurelocalised heat and smell from seized roller

Emergency splicing from N$3,500

Gearbox or Drive Overheating

Abnormal temperature, noise, or vibration from drive assembly

Common causes

  • Oil level low or contaminatedseal failure allowing water or process fluid ingress
  • Bearing failurepitting or spalling from overload or lack of lubrication
  • Coupling misalignmenttransmitted vibration into gearbox housing

Diagnostic assessment from N$850 — repair scope quoted on site

Structural Crack or Weld Failure

Cracked frame, broken support, or failed pressure joint

Common causes

  • Fatigue crackcyclic loading on crusher or vibrating screen frame
  • Impact damageliner failure allowing direct material contact with structure
  • Corrosion-induced thinningespecially on wet processing or coastal equipment

Emergency welding from N$4,500 — NDT inspection available if required

How a Callout Works

From the Call to Back in Production

Call & Confirm Access

Phone +264 81 125 5394. Provide the site name, fault description, and any access requirements. We confirm mobilization immediately.

5–10 minutes

Field Team Dispatched

A fully equipped field van with mechanical tooling, spares, and portable welding equipment is dispatched. Target: 2 hours for Windhoek and Outapi industrial zones.

2 hours

Diagnose, Quote, Repair

Our technician inspects the fault, provides a written scope and price before starting, and executes the repair. Production restored before we leave where parts allow.

2–8 hours on site

For specialist parts not in stock, we arrange 24–48 hour air-freight from South Africa. We advise on interim production options while parts are in transit.

Frequently Asked

Emergency Repair Questions Answered

We respond to the full range of industrial mechanical breakdowns: centrifugal and submersible pump failures, valve seizures and actuator failures, conveyor belt damage and gearbox breakdowns, fan and blower failures, coded welding for cracked structures and pressure vessels, bearing replacements on rotating equipment, shaft alignment for pumps and motors, and emergency coupling and seal replacements. We bring critical spares to site on the first callout to maximise the chance of completing the repair in a single visit.
For sites within Windhoek and Outapi, we can mobilize within 1–2 hours. For Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, our response time is approximately 2.5–3 hours by road. For remote mining sites in the north (Tsumeb, Oshikango, Rössing/Husab area), we dispatch immediately and aim to reach site within 4–8 hours. For critical clients with ongoing maintenance contracts, we pre-position spares at site to reduce response time further. We respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including public holidays.
Yes. Our field teams hold current mine-access certifications including occupational health medicals, confined space entry, working at heights, and emergency first aid. Our vehicles carry the required safety equipment: gas detectors, full PPE kits, lock-out/tag-out devices, and fall protection. We are pre-registered as approved contractors with several major Namibian mine operators, which significantly reduces the administrative delay for emergency callouts. We comply with MHSA requirements and can provide our safety file documentation on request.
We maintain a stocked spares warehouse in Outapi with fast-moving items for pumps, valves, conveyors, bearings, and motors from major manufacturers. For more specialised components, we have relationships with regional distributors in South Africa who can air-freight critical parts to Outapi within 24–48 hours. If an exact OEM part is unavailable, we can machine or fabricate an interim solution on-site to restore partial production while the correct part is sourced. We always advise you of the timeline and options before starting work.
Our welders hold coded welding qualifications for structural steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel. Emergency structural services include repair of cracked crusher frames, conveyor structural steel, vibrating screen supports, pressure vessel repairs (subject to inspection), pipe flange welding, and structural bracket fabrication. We bring portable welding units to site for work that cannot be transported to workshop. Where required, we arrange third-party NDT (non-destructive testing) inspection for compliance with applicable pressure codes.
