Frequently Asked
Electrical Emergency Questions Answered
We cover the full spectrum of industrial and commercial electrical emergencies: tripped MV/LV breakers and distribution board faults, underground and overhead cable faults located using TDR and thumper technology, burnt-out motors and VSD (variable speed drive) failures, generator ATS (automatic transfer switch) failures and synchronisation faults, switchgear failures at MCCs and sub-stations, and thermal imaging for hot joints and overloaded circuits. We respond to factories, mines, commercial buildings, and processing plants across Namibia.
For Windhoek and surrounding industrial areas (Northern Industrial, Prosperita, Brakwater), our target response time is within 2 hours of your call. Our field vans are pre-stocked with critical spares including breakers, contactors, capacitors, and control fuses so that most faults can be diagnosed and repaired in a single visit. For clients outside Windhoek, we dispatch from Windhoek and can reach Walvis Bay within 2.5 hours and major mining towns within 4–8 hours depending on location.
Yes. Our electricians are qualified and equipped to work on medium-voltage switchgear, 11 kV transformer bays, MV cable systems, and the full LV distribution chain. We perform safe isolation, earthing, and fault isolation procedures in line with Namibian occupational health and safety regulations and NamPower interconnection standards. All MV work is conducted by certified personnel following documented lock-out/tag-out procedures.
TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) sends a pulse down a cable and measures the reflection to pinpoint the exact location of a fault—short circuit, open circuit, or insulation breakdown—to within a metre or two, even on cables buried hundreds of metres underground. We also use thumper/surge generators for high-resistance earth faults. This avoids excavating an entire cable route, saving significant time and cost. TDR is used for underground LV and MV cables, buried instrumentation cables, and multicore control cables.
Yes. Our electrical teams hold the required safety certifications for mine-access in Namibia, including confined space entry, working at heights, and site-specific inductions for major mine operators. Our vehicles are equipped with the required PPE, gas detection, and rescue equipment for entering hazardous industrial environments. We are pre-registered with major mine procurement portals, which reduces the administrative lead time for emergency call-outs.
